DPD 000 means you paid on time. DPD 030 means you were 1-30 days late. DPD 090+ means you are 3+ months overdue and your account is heading toward NPA classification. These three digits control your credit score more than any other single factor.
Every month (and from July 2026, every week), your lender reports your DPD status to all four CICs. The DPD field in your CIBIL report uses a simple code:
- 000 or STD: Current, no overdue
- 001-030: 1-30 days past due (triggers score drop of 30-50 points)
- 031-060: 31-60 days (triggers 50-80 point drop)
- 061-090: 61-90 days (triggers 80-120 point drop)
- 090+: More than 90 days (triggers NPA classification, 150+ point drop)
How fast does it recover?
Here is what most people do not realize: a DPD entry stays on your report for 36 months (3 years) from the date it was reported. Even after you pay the overdue amount and bring the account current, the historical DPD flag remains visible to future lenders for 3 years.
The July 2026 weekly reporting impact
With weekly reporting, a missed payment gets flagged within 7-10 days instead of waiting for the monthly cycle. This means:
- If you miss your EMI on the 5th, it could show as DPD by the 16th
- Previously, it would only appear in next month's report
- Faster flagging, but also faster recovery when you clear the dues
Meet Rohan's recovery timeline
Rohan missed two EMIs in 2024 (DPD 060 reported). He cleared both and has paid on time since. His CIBIL score dropped from 780 to 680. Recovery timeline: 12-18 months of consistent on-time payments to climb back above 750. The DPD history drops off entirely after 36 months from the report date.
